Dobbs BBQ in Dotdan

Place is not clean mens bath room how this place passes inspection i do not know food was good , service was good

I'm giving Dobb's two stars because our waitress was a genuinely nice lady. As for the restaurant, it was clean and the booth was comfortable enough. The menu has a lot of choices and the prices are on par with most BBQ restaurants.I am not a BBQ expert. I will say though, I've even BBQ in nearly every state in the US, 7 Asian countries and 6 European countries. I can not say what I was served was BBQ or would even qualify as BBQ even by the most lenient of definitions. I ordered sliced beef. I was served cold, dry, absolutely flavorless, pasty gray meat. There were 4 slices, no more than 4 ounces total, of the most awful excuse for BBQ beef I've ever had the misfortune to eat. They may have something they do well but it isn't sliced beef. I can assure you I'll never know either. This was one of those meals that was so bad I see no scenario in the future getting me back in there.

Our waitress was absolutely the nicest person I have ever met. I ordered the BBQ chicken plate and it was amazing! I highly recommend the chocolate pie slice... omg it is so darn good. Definitely would recommend this place!

Nice little place, careful of the hot sauce and save room for dessert.

The pulled pork sandwiches we're good, 🍟 fries were delicious, the baked beans we didn't really care for. But the service was great our waitress took good care of us with a friendly attitude

Friendly service, took our orders and reconfirmed it to avoid any issues with our large group.The actual food itself was subpar. The best part about the bbq beef plate I ordered was the fries and coffee and that was mediocre at best.

This place is filthy. Dirty cups and leftover food was in our drinks. And the sweet tea taste awful. Please don’t come here

It's not a very fancy place when you walk in. Is a home team downtown Diner feel. Everyone there is friendly. The servers are fast and courteous. I had the barbecue ribs. The meat fell off the bone they were fantastic. Then I took home a container of pulled pork with sauce to go. Food was hot and fresh. The restaurant was clean. And the service was excellent. What more could you ask for.

Food was trash! No flavor from the baked beans. And the bbq sauce is horrible!

Absolutely love the way they do the chipped beef or pork. Delicious sides especially the new cheesy mac and cheese. Friendly staff and really nice rustic decor. Have been many times driving all the way from Panama City Florida just for their uniqueness. Really reasonable pricing and good portion size. A winner!

This is coming from someone whose been to all 50 states. The best bbq I've found so far is in big pine California. Copper top grill. This place: The flavors are off. The bbq sauce is to much tomato theres no sweet or spicy to it. The chicken definitely dry and over cooked. The ribs were good as far as fall off the bone neat good but could of been better with the right bbq sauce. Beans are definitely original recipe and taste pretty good. Mac n cheese was dry not how I like mac n cheese but the flavor was there. It was ok for trying something new. But I definitely wont think about going back. Sorry!

We love good BBQ and this place is a gem. I can believe they have been serving bbq for 100 years. The food is good old-fashioned country food done right. You're greeted as you enter and the people are all genuinely friendly. A must stop.

It was different then what we are used to being from Kansas City. However, we enjoyed it. Greens were amazing, best ranch ever made their simple side salad of fresh lettuce & tomatoes delicious. We had the shrimp plate and the combination rib plate. Service was fast and friendly great portion size. We will definitely stop again when we are in town.

The fries are very good. I ordered the 3 meat combination plate and the meats were dry and hard as it it had been sitting there all day. I would not recommend this place. The staff however was super nice.

There's a reason this place has been open for 100 years. I'm a BBQ snob. This is some of the best BBQ to be found on the Eastern seaboard. Great flavor, distinct and memorable.

Look at this... on the way back from Panama to Atlanta. I researched and this one is by far an underdog. At first I was like nah, they are closed but WOW. Never have I had this great of pork.

I did a take out. And it was expensive for what I got. I got ribs there when I got home I was so angry the ribs was so dry and tough. Will never go back. Had to throw out my ribs. Alabama

The food was good but they charged our card for $10 over our bill and when we said something they recharged us for the correct amount of the bill, so instead of paying $28 we ended up paying $66 for our meal

The food was so bad , save yourselves the time. Classic case of the old man passed away and now it's awful. The slaw ...I spit it out. It had the taste of death . The bbq pork was a grease ball that was not the way a 100 year old restaurant pitmaster cooks his pets food. It's just a disgrace to the name . For Gods sake stop.. The Camp stew definition is a very sad attempt at Brunswick stew.

My grandparents used to live in Rehoboth & would always take me there for a meal, fell in love with this wonderful place and the friendly staff that are so welcoming, I live in Pensacola and at least once a month make the 3 hour drive just to enjoy some wonderful BBQ!

Rating would be lower but Service was very good....not sure what was in th bowl of so called stew

This place is above average in every way possible except for the physical facilities. They could use a bit of a refresh but that might impact the cost and value proposition. I would recommend to anyone looking for good bbq at a good price.

We got food to go. The portions are large and on to go orders, they give you utensils, hand wipes, napkins, salt and pepper packets and they separate all of this from the food with a thin piece of paper so it’s all in one container. The BBQ is what I would describe and sweet & tangy, their pork is finely chopped and their ribs where tender. They serve the sweet and tangy sauce on the meat so ask for it on the side if you prefer dry. The okra was good and the potato salad has mustard and pickles. The strawberry shortcake dessert was made from scratch. The place has been around a long time, there is a front to go area and a dining area in the back that has a diner feel.

The food was excellent but the smell from the rotted out plumbing in the women’s bathroom was so bad I had to cover my nose to keep from throwing up. The level of bacteria floating around in this place has to be off the charts. Where is the Health Department? Loved the food but will never go there again. Very unhealthy

Good parking. Lots of room to eat. Good food. Wheel chair accessible. Has a kids menu. Big selections. Big portion. Been eating here for years. Staff is very friendly and attentive. I enjoy their takeout portions. They also do catering and holiday specials. Highly recommended place to go. Has lots of history for dothan.

I really like their BBQ with the sause cooked in..Its no wonder why its famous..Their Brunswick's Stew is really good too. YUM YUM !!

There is nothing posted about dining room hours. Dining room closed at 6. We were there 6:15. They need to post it somewhere.

We drove from fla.to Dobbs for my birthday food was best BBQ I ever had out standing.good.

This place knows BBQ, after all they been in business over 100 years. I grew up eating Dobbs, and 40 years later it's still the same great BBQ I grew up eating

Great B.B.que always get the combo platter. Gives me enough for 2 meals. Thye have good vegetables and get some local. The pies and cakes are worth saving room for. They also have a take out menu

It was great. I had the loaded baked potato with pork. OMG what a meal. We tried the fried okra. Best I have had in a long time.

Taste like boiled meet nothing from the fire pit like I expected Or maybe chipped dog food just my opinion

Good service and the people where nice but the BBQ is just not good. We drove here because they say it has been open over 100 years and figured I could find some good BBQ here... well I was wrong. They did have some good sausage you could get buy the pound which was pretty good, but that’s about it.

The food was decent. It's not the most clean place I've been in. The service was good. The barbecue sauce is more on the sour side. I'm more of a sweet spicy person. For the money it was ok.

Chris new all about the food and was very helpful and host about all the home made stuff. We are both chefs so we like food that made in the Kitchen.

Our 1st and last to Dobbs Restaurant. The barbecue sandwich was bland.We ask for different sauce because the one we had was thin and no taste, waitress replied they don’t make it anymore they buy it. The slaw had a lot of water and butter taste, didn’t eat that at all! The restrooms were the NASTIEST we have ever seen! It was worse than any port a potty! The smell , the filth, it was disgusting! You are better off using an outdoor toilet! This is unacceptable to the public. I should have looked at reviews for sure, and also should check there food scores.. We will never go to this establishment again.

Service was great.. Food was warm but flavorless except for the BBQ sauce that was dripping off the ribs. Only one type of sauce as has been for the last 30 years. Now I remember why I stopped coming here long b4 I moved to Panama city 25 years ago, nothing like a $50.00 reminder......if your looking for nostalgia this is the place same booths and tables from when they opened 50 years ago, if you want good BBQ look in Google maps or Yelp cause this isnt it.
